Certificates
ErasureLog can produce certificates as documentary evidence of erasure or destruction. There are two types of certificate.
Record Certificates
A Record Certificate is produced for an individual Erasure/Destruction Record. It covers one device only.
Use a Record Certificate when:
- A client or auditor needs evidence of destruction for a single device.
- You are processing standalone Records that are not linked to a Job.
- You need device-level evidence alongside a Job Certificate.
To generate a Record Certificate, open the Record and select the certificate option from the record details page.
Job Certificates
A Job Certificate is produced for a Job. It includes the details of all Records linked to that Job.
Use a Job Certificate when:
- You have processed a batch of devices as part of a Job.
- You need a single document covering all devices in that batch.
- A client requires a consolidated certificate for their records.
To generate a Job Certificate, open the Job and select the certificate option from the job details page.
Key differences
| Record Certificate | Job Certificate | |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | One Record, one device | All Records linked to a Job |
| When to use | Single devices or standalone Records | Batch processing and client jobs |
| Includes standalone Records? | Yes — generated directly from the Record | Only if the Record is linked to the Job |
A Job Certificate only includes Records that are linked to that specific Job.
If a Record was created as a standalone Record and not linked to the Job, it will not appear in the Job Certificate — even if it is associated with the same Client.
Always ensure Records are linked to the correct Job before generating a Job Certificate.
Certificate settings
Certificate appearance and content can be configured in Certificate Settings, available under Settings in the left sidebar. This may include your organisation's branding, logo, and additional fields.
