Generating Certificates

ErasureLog produces two types of certificate: Record Certificates and Job Certificates.

Record Certificates

A Record Certificate is generated for an individual Erasure/Destruction Record. It covers one device only.

When to use a Record Certificate

  • When you need evidence of destruction for a single device.
  • When processing standalone Records not linked to a Job.
  • When a client requires device-level certificates alongside a Job Certificate.

How to generate a Record Certificate

  1. In the left sidebar, click Erasure Records.
  2. Find and open the Record.
  3. On the record details page, select the option to generate a certificate.

Job Certificates

A Job Certificate is generated for a Job and includes all Records linked to that Job.

When to use a Job Certificate

  • When you have processed a batch of devices as part of a Job.
  • When a client requires a single consolidated certificate for an entire batch.
  • When you need to present evidence of destruction for multiple devices in one document.

How to generate a Job Certificate

  1. In the left sidebar, click Jobs.
  2. Find and open the Job.
  3. On the job details page, select the option to generate a certificate.

Common mistakes

warning

Standalone Records are not included in Job Certificates.

If a Record was created without being linked to a Job, it will not appear in that Job's certificate — even if the Record is linked to the same Client. Ensure Records are linked to the correct Job before generating the Job Certificate.

warning

Records added after certificate generation.

If you add further Records to a Job after generating a certificate, regenerate the certificate to include them.

Certificate settings

The appearance and content of certificates can be customised in Certificate Settings, available under Settings in the left sidebar. This includes options such as your organisation's logo, branding, and additional fields.
